It has been a constant struggle for the Kings Technical Vocational Institute as they had to withstand the uneasiness of sitting on their inadequate school desks for regular school lessons.
As the Gomoa West District Assembly is mandated to enhance equitable provisions of services and resources for the total development of the district through good governances, had donated 20 dual desks to the Kings Technical and Vocational Institute located at Gomoa Mprumem in the Gomoa West District in the central region.
The desks are given to the institute as their share of the dual desks given to the schools in the Gomoa West District to improve and eradicate inadequate school desks for some schools in the district.
Presenting the 20 dual desks to the principal of the institute, Mr. Clement Ofori by Assistant Director Mr. Abraham Frank Eshun on behalf of the Hon. District Chief Executive Bismark Baisie Nkum and the District Coordinating Director Madam Vida Awuku on Thursday 30th June, 2022 at the Assembly’s premises.
The Assistant Director advice the principal and the teachers to take good care of the dual desks and added that in a situation of inadequate school chairs, demolishes the interest of the school children and sometimes even absented themselves from classes.
He went further that the Assembly will always stand behind the school and therefore, would continue to provide other educational materials as part of the Assembly’s effort to ensure all inclusive education amongst the even vulnerable in its jurisdiction.
Receiving the desks, the principal of the institute Mr. Clement Ofori express gratitude to the Assembly for the donation and assured the Assembly that the pupils and the teachers will take good care of the desk and make good use of it. He pledged that the donation would improve the performance of the children and with that regard, requested for more resources to support the institute.
He stressed that and institution that offer regular courses like building and construction, electrical and electronics, Computer studies, Fashion and Design, draughtmanship and catering, our needs are unlimited and requested the Assembly to assist them continually to enhance teaching and learning in the school he added.
He extended appreciations to the Hon. District Chief Executive and the Coordinating Director for their recognition of the institute and stressed “there are many schools in the district who are also in need of these desks but you have remember us” we are extremely grateful he ended.
