On 9th September 2026. The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West Constituency and Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah, in collaboration with the Gomoa West District Assembly, led by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim, commissioned two 2-unit KG classroom blocks with offices and modern toilet facilities at Gomoa Simbrofo and Gomoa Antseadze
The project, supported by the Works Department of the Gomoa West District Assembly, aimed to provide the two communities with safe, conducive, and improved learning environments for effective teaching and learning at the kindergarten level.
In his address, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah thanked God for the opportunity to commission the educational facilities, noting that the projects represented an investment in the constituency’s children’s future.
He explained that the project was a response to concerns raised by community members during his campaign and community engagements about the poor condition of facilities available to pupils. According to him, parents had expressed concern about overcrowded classrooms, leaking roofs and inadequate facilities for teaching and learning.
Hon. Gyan-Mensah said the newly completed facilities comprise 2-unit KG classroom blocks furnished with modern desks, teacher offices, and separate sanitary facilities for boys and girls. He noted that the facilities were intended to provide an environment that would support quality early childhood education.
He emphasised education’s importance to the constituency’s and the country’s development, stating that every child, regardless of where he or she lived, deserved access to quality education. He therefore urged parents and community members to support their children to take their education seriously.
The Member of Parliament expressed appreciation to the President and the Ministry of Education for their support towards educational infrastructure development, as well as the Gomoa West District Assembly for its technical assistance. He also commended the contractor for executing the project according to the required specifications.
He further acknowledged the traditional authorities for providing land and supporting the project, and the parents and youth who contributed through communal labour and the provision of security for construction materials.
Hon. Gyan-Mensah appealed to the School Management Committee, school authorities and the District Education Directorate to ensure they maintain the school facilities. He stressed that the facilities were public property and urged the community to protect them for the benefit of present and future generations.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim, thanked the people for attending the ceremony and encouraged the school authorities to make discipline and academic excellence key priorities.
He urged the pupils to take advantage of the improved learning environment, dream big and work hard to achieve their educational aspirations. He also encouraged teachers to give their best to the pupils and assured them that efforts were being made to address challenges relating to accommodation and teaching and learning resources.
Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim subsequently declared the facilities duly commissioned for use by the communities. He expressed the hope that the facilities would help produce well-educated professionals and responsible citizens who would contribute to the development of Gomoa West District and Ghana as a whole.
