On Thursday, 6th November 2025, executives of the Okada Riders Association in the Gomoa West District paid a courtesy call on the Gomoa West District Assembly to discuss ways to streamline Okada activities in the district and address challenges faced by riders.
In attendance at the meeting were the District Chief Executive (Hon. Mohammed Kassim), the District Coordinating Director (Esq Marian Dankwaa Mensah), Executives of the Okada riders, headed by their National secretary (Mr Abdul Rakman Razak), Regional secretary (Mr Sani wudu), the District Secretary (Mr Emmanuel Mensah), some staff of the assembly and other stakeholders.
The meeting, among other things, focused on Safety Measures: with Emphasis on wearing helmets, following traffic rules, and maintaining vehicles, Route management: identification of specific routes for Okada riders to reduce congestion and improve safety, Licensing and Registration: Procedures for obtaining licenses and registering Okada’s, Sensitization: Education on road safety, traffic rules, and responsible riding practices.
The DCE and the DCD assured the leaders of the Okada riders Association of their support and urged them to adhere to the agreed-upon measures. The meeting ended with a commitment to work together to enhance safety and streamline Okada activities within the district, and to comply with the upcoming national-level Legislative Instrument (LI) on motorcycle operations. Both parties agreed to organise a sensitisation program soon, during which reflective jackets will be distributed to all trained and registered riders.
