On April 11th, 2025, the Gomoa West District Assembly held a meeting to elect the presiding member, swear in other government appointees, and confirm the district chief executive appointed by the president, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim. The meeting was attended by the member of parliament of the Gomoa West constituency, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah, past district coordinating director, Theophilus Aidoo Mensah, chiefs, friends, dignitaries and some community members.
His Royal Majesty Nana Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, the paramount chief of Gomoa Ajumako traditional area and the president of the Gomoa Ajumako traditional council, graced the occasion and chaired the meeting. He admonished the assembly members present to work in peace and unity, for it is the surest way to achieve the district’s development. He further tasked the assembly members present to give their full support to the president’s nominee for the position of DCE, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim.
The electoral commission later took over the election process. At the end of the elections, Hon. Stephen Donkor, the assembly member for the NKum/Hwida electoral area, was elected as the presiding member, securing 80% of the total votes cast.
Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim secured 100% of the votes cast, affirming his nomination as the district chief executive of the Gomoa West district assembly. The two elected officers were sworn into office by the district magistrate court judge.
The meeting was successful, and the newly sworn-in district chief executive officer, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Kassim, thanked the people present for their support and promised to work hard for the district’s development.
