A CLEAN-UP EXERCISE WAS HELD BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEPARTMENT OF THE GOMOA WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ON THE 21ST OF FEBRUARY AND 1ST OF MARCH 2025, AT MUMFORD AND APAM RESPECTIVELY.

The Environmental Department of the Gomoa West District Assembly undertook a cleanup exercise on Friday, February 21st, and Saturday, March 1st, 2025, to distil drains, gutters, lorry stations, dumping, and rubbish container sites at Mumford and Apam, respectively.

This exercise was necessary to clear the areas of filth and keep the surroundings clean to prevent the spread of diseases like cholera and other illnesses, which were becoming a major concern for the area. Officers of the Environmental Department of the Assembly, headed by their department head, Mr Thomas Akpalu, also taught residents some good personal hygiene practices.

The exercise was organized with the chiefs, assembly members, unit committee members, residents of the various communities, and the Gomoa West District Assembly staff.

The two communities were grateful for the exercise and promised to make it a regular activity to keep their surroundings clean always. The assembly also thanked them for their support in making the exercise successful.
